Angels Among Us

Thursday, April 12, 2018

If you want to know how nice the weather is just look at every other day this week. Another awesome day. We are enjoying sitting outside in the afternoons after our walks.

We started the day with a nice walk. Then we continued to work down the to do list. We made good progress today. Unfortunately, other things were added to the list. Still we are pleased that the list is a little shorter this evening than it was this morning. Another LOL tax return was completed, more bills paid, reports submitted, orders placed. We have a new toy on the way. More about that later. We heard jets at 10:00 and remembered the air show is this weekend. We stepped outside and as expected we saw the Blue Angels arriving for the air show. They were flying in formation as they approached the airport. A few hours later they returned to the sky practicing for the show. We saw their homecoming show in 2014 when we were in Pensacola working the Gulf Breeze disaster rebuild. The Angels have done several shows here in Tuscaloosa and they usually make some runs right over Mom’s house. They flew over a number of times but none as low as they have done in the past. Wonder if they have new restrictions in place now. It will be interesting to see what they do tomorrow and then the days of the shows. Mom’s house really isn’t that close to the airport but we still got a nice show today.

While we were out taking photos of the Angels our next door neighbor on the other side came out with her twin boys. We had a nice visit. We took another nice walk on the greenway this evening and then enjoyed sitting outside reading. We just saw on the blog statistics that we have one viewer from China today. Wonder who that might be. Interesting. Thank you, God, for another good day to spend together.

Plugging Away in Tuscaloosa

Wednesday, April 11, 2018

How many times can I say it. It was another beautiful day in Alabama. We know it is going to come to an end but the weather is just about perfect. Forties at night, low to mid seventies daytime with sun and a few clouds. Nice.

Beautiful azaleas just outside our doorMaybe it’s the wet spring but the flowers are still so pretty. We are still parked in Mom’s driveway and the azaleas in the front flower beds are about as pretty as I have seen them. The ones in the back are way past their peak and look pretty pitiful. Our flowers we brought from Remlap are looking good too. We really didn’t know if they would continue to bloom out once we brought them in. We don’t usually cut the irises, but rather just enjoy them in the yard. Since we weren’t going to be at the house we decided to give it a try. We are enjoying.

Working on taxes
Great weather for working on taxes

We just kept plugging away at our to do list today. Filed one of the LOL’s tax returns and getting close on another. Still have lots of paperwork to handle. Canceled Juno’s insurance and paid some more doctor bills. Starting to go through a few things at Mom’s house. Also made a Publix run today. We haven’t been in Publix territory in a while so it was a nice treat. Too bad they didn’t have many BOGO’s that we needed. We did pick up what we needed to prepare a new to us recipe in the Instant Pot.  Instant Pot Chicken and Rice Burrito Bowl. Quite tasty. It’s a keeper. Visited with the next door neighbor for a while this afternoon, then got our afternoon walk. It was a good day.

Back To Tuscaloosa

Tuesday, April 10, 2018

Neighbors visiting this morningIt was another really nice spring day in north Alabama. High in the low 70’s and lows in the mid 40’s with bright sunshine. God blessed us with another treat of nature as soon as we got out of bed. There were three deer munching on grass and playing around right outside the bedroom door. Possibly because there has been no recent activity at the house they are closer than usual. We got to see one of the deer stand on it’s hind legs to try to reach leaves that we higher up on a shrub. Sorry we didn’t get a picture of that. Both of our best camera’s were in Fred in Tuscaloosa so all we had was the phones but at least we got something. Love to see the wild life.

We actually slept a little late this morning. An hour later than usual work days. Still up at six but it was nice to not have to hit the ground running this morning. We worked on more paperwork for the ladies, paid more bills that came in yesterday, and got Juno’s car ready to sell. We met with Steve (our cousin) and transferred the car to him. Hopefully his granddaughter will enjoy the Subie. It was another step, and a little sad. One more thing crossed off the to do list. After handling the paperwork, we visited with Steve for a while. It was good to have a little time with him. It sure is nice to have all the Hallman cousins as relatives and friends. Good people.

After our visit we loaded up the truck and headed to Tuscaloosa. Much to be done in Tuscaloosa too. However, after unloading and putting everything away, the first chore was laundry. We haven’t taken time for that since our last weekend in Baton Rouge, so there is lots of laundry.

After getting the laundry started, we walked the greenway down to the Cookout. We had a late lunch and a wonderful strawberry cheesecake milkshake. Later in the afternoon we walked the greenway again. We really enjoy the new greenway. It’s one of the good things that came out of the 2011 tornado.

We would love to have some time to just relax a little but tomorrow will be another busy day. Don’t think we will be much of a break for a while.

Busy LOL Day

Monday April 9, 2018

We had another cool start to the day but it was sunny and warmed up into the 60’s by this afternoon. Nice day.

We stayed busy from about 5:30 this morning until we returned home at 7:30 tonight. There were bills to pay for the ladies and estate, and lots of errands. We started this morning in Oneonta at the rehab center, went into Trussville to the assisted living, to the bank, Camp Sumatanga and back to rehab for a 4:00 meeting this afternoon. After the meeting we had to go to Walmart to get Aunt Helen some more chocolate kisses and then back to the mountain, stopping at Helen’s and getting a 2 mile walk in with Barry and Donna. It’s always a good afternoon when we get to walk with them. After the walk we were back at Helen’s cleaning out Juno’s car. We finally made it back to the house at 7:30. We just sort of crashed tonight. We have had our hot tea, a little snack, worked on a bill of sale, typed the blog, (sorry no pics today), and now it’s finally time to just relax. Not a very blog-worthy day.
