Team Back Together

Sunday, November 25, 2018

Today was a beautiful day in Lumberton. We had beautiful sun today. Jackets were needed this morning but this afternoon great. Knowing tomorrow is suppose to be another wet day made today even more appreciated.

We again went to church at Chestnut Street UMC. Pastor Herbert brought another great message. He is a gifted speaker and simply presents the Word. No sugar coating but speaks the truth. Reminds me of our home church, Lester Memorial. If we were going to be in this area for an extended period of time (which we aren’t) we would certainly consider Chestnut Street as our home church.

After church we returned to Fred for a lunch of leftovers. While we were waiting for some brand new NOMADS to arrive, we did some laundry and relaxed. After greeting Gary and Nancy, we made a quick run to the gym to get our exercise for the day. Team meetingWe finished up in time to make a quick run for groceries and then make it to our team meeting tonight at the church. We also had another team member arrive today, Phillip and we met Jerry for the first time but he was here last week. It was great to meet new friends and we look forward to a productive week. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving week.

Back To Lumberton

Saturday, November 24, 2018

(Sorry, another entry didn’t post when we thought it did.)

It was another cool day and today it was raining as well. Messy day. We made no effort to depart Johnston early this morning. Per the forecast the rain would be out by 10:00 and we decided to just wait it out. Dead batteryOf course at 10:00 when we started to hook the truck up to leave, the truck battery was dead. It was a little slow to start yesterday, today it was dead. First cold snap of the year kills a lot of batteries. It could have happened at a lot worse times. We were safe. We were at Randy’s with all the necessary tools and Randy of course new exactly where to go to get the battery and changed it out for us quickly. So glad it wasn’t Monday morning when we needed to get to work. Of course it was raining again at 11:30 when were were actually hooking up to head back to Lumberton.

Traffic was worse than we expected todayThe rain was minimal on our trip back but it remained a damp, cool and messy day. Traffic was considerably heavier than we anticipated. So glad we will not be on the interstate tomorrow. Everyone traveling tomorrow needs to allow lots of time and be very careful. We made it back safe and sound and pulled back in right behind Dave and Carol. Good to see part of our team again. The rest will be back tomorrow.

We had a great Thanksgiving with family. So good to see the nieces and nephews and their children who could join us. It was good to get a good report on Fred. It was good to have a little break. We will now work three more weeks here in Lumberton to try to continue helping those needing assistance. Praying we accomplish what God desires and not our To Do list.

Happy Thanksgiving – Take 2

Today was a cool gray day. The high was 46. But it was a great day. We got up and started preparing the for the family to arrive. Dave and Jen and Philip and Lauren, Dorothy and Tabitha all came over today. We had a huge spread of great food and wonderful family time. Such fun to see everyone. This afternoon we took a nice long walk to work off some of lunch. We played some games, played with the kids, and all too soon it was time for the kids to head home. Jen and Dave did stay in Johnston with us, so we will see then again tomorrow. It was another wonderful day.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thursday, November 22, 2018

Yesterday we had a relaxing morning and then went to Greenwood, SC to do a little shopping. They guys went to Harbor Freight and Tractor Supply. The girls went to the mall. We all had fun and of course the guys spent the most money. We stopped by Cookout for lunch on the way home. We all did our afternoon walking together. Randy has a trail around this property so we can walk a loop and get about 1000 steps per round. Between that and the walking when we were shopping we got our miles done for the day.

Today was another cool but nice day in Johnston. We had another wonderful day to spend with Randy and Debra. Special time to just work together and have fun. Anne and Debra cooked most of the day. The nieces and nephews are coming tomorrow so we prepared food today so we can visit tomorrow. Of course we also cooked our Thanksgiving meal which was not traditional but oh so good. We topped if off with Pina Colada cake. We need to go walk another five miles.

Randy and Max worked outside part of today trimming trees and taking trees down that were too close to the house. There was some high ladder work but they were very careful and they were very glad to have marked that off Randy’s to do list. Debra and Anne watched from the kitchen.

That’s about it for today. It was great family time.
